Utah visit Part I

I figured we would update our blog with Part I of our summer visit to Utah. We have been here a few days and are enjoying our time here of course. We stay very busy trying to visit all of our families, friends, and try to relax a little too.

We decided to drive to Utah from Minnesota this year so that we could have our own car, and since airfare was so expensive. It is an 18 hour drive, but we thought we would drive to Mt. Rushmore on the way since it only added on another hour to our drive. It was a rainy and stormy drive, but we figured it would clear up by the time we got to Mt. Rushmore. Here is a picture of what we saw.

Mt. Rushmore is directly behind Anna and the girls (at least that is what we were told). It was so foggy and stormy that we couldn't see anything. We couldn't see a mountain, any carved faces, or anything. It was fun and interesting to read about the history of it, but we never saw anything. Oh well, we tried.

The girls have been having fun here in Utah playing with cousins and enjoying the nice weather. Here they are playing outside in the grass and on the swingset.

Anna and I have our 6 year anniversary this week. The best 6 years of my life :) To celebrate we took a 24 hour trip to Park City while Grandma watched the kids (thanks Grandma J). We walked down Main Street, rode on the Alpine Slide (in the background of the picture), shopped at the outlets, and drove around the area. It was a nice time and a fun way to celebrate our anniversary.

That is all for now. Lots more to come in a few weeks, stay tuned for Part II in about 2 weeks or so....

Okay, now I understand what Anna said when she said you didn't get to see Mt. Rushmore. I thought she meant you didn't get close enough. What a bummer! That's what it looked like when we crossed the Mackinac Bridge this week. Foggy! Happy Anniversary, you guys! I'm glad you got a getaway. How fun.

Dave and I had a good chuckle at your post. What a funny picture! At least you had that extra time in the car with your kids--priceless. :) Love hearing the adventures. Can't wait for part deux.

That almost happened to me when I got off the train in Switerzerland. "So, uh, the Alps are supposedly over there somewhere?" But then, the clouds parted, and magic!!

We're coming up to our 6-year anniversary. We are due, way over due for that matter, for some great get-away after Ethan's through nursing. We're glad you're doing well!

That is too funny that you drove all the way to Mt. Rushmore and didn't even get to see it. I'm way sorry! At least you can say you went right? Hye, there's always the ride home too! Congrats on the anniversary, that's way exciting. I love Park City, especially the Alpine Slide.
